There's an intense race to build the best smartphone, and it's not always your regular favourites, Samsung or Apple, leading the charts in terms of innovation. Oppo Find X and Vivo Nex are some examples of true innovation in terms of design and OnePlus 6 defines ideal performance for a flagship smartphone. But Oppo is likely to hit another milestone with R17 smartphone, which has now appeared on TENAA.
As spotted by 91Mobiles, Oppo's unannounced flagship, R17 smartphone, has surfaced on China's certification agency TENAA under the model numbers PBCM00/ PBCT00. The listing also offers first look at the Oppo R17, which gives us a fair idea of what to expect.
The biggest highlight of the Oppo R17 has to be 10GB RAM, which was revealed by tipster on Weibo. If true, Oppo R17 will be the first smartphone to have such high RAM configuration as the highest currently found in smartphones in 8GB (See: OnePlus 6)
Now, the leaked image on TENAA reveals other features, such as horizontally-stacked dual rear cameras with LED flash, two-tone gradient colour with blue at the bottom and black at the top, and Oppo branding at the center. We do not see any fingerprint sensor at the back and there's no sign of a physical home button at the front.
Based on this, we can assume that Oppo R15 successor will either have 3D facial scanning technology or an in-display fingerprint scanner. The report further suggests the phone could have a 6.3-inch display, but it's not clear if Oppo will borrow Find X-style full-screen display with elevating cameras or boast a notch display like many phones we see these days.
Finally, the report suggests a 3,415mAh battery will power the R17 smartphone that will measure 156.7 x 74 x 7.9mm.
Other specifications such as the chipset, Android OS, storage and camera specifications are not known at the moment. The handset, however, is expected to be launched sometime in August, where we will learn all about the new phone. Stay tuned for updates.
