Ahead of the 28 September "apocalyptic end to the world", there are some bizarre things dominating the discussion threads across the web. On a similar page, someone has entered a set of coordinates for an alleged UFO crash site somewhere in Antarctica.
According to reports, a Russian UFO enthusiast recently spotted "possible remains" of a so-called alien spacecraft buried in the snow in the South Pole. The spotter got through to the image from Google Maps and even shared the possible coordinates for the same.
As a result, as you may expect, the coordinates have now gone viral with a number of conspiracy theorists now rushing to the spot to check out if anything substantial can be gathered from it.
If you want to see the "crash site" for yourself, type the co-ordinates: 80°34'08.4"S 30°05'19.3"W into Google Maps search bar and set it to the satellite 'Earth' view.
"I found the unique object using the online service of Google Earth in Antarctica," said Valentin Degterev, the one who made the find. "In amongst the endless ice desert, it is the most genuine UFO in its most classic shape," he said.
More sane-minded people, however, have already dismissed the claims saying that it's nothing more than a crack in the ice, otherwise known as a crevasse. But Degterev remains convinced. "It is definitely not a polar station nor a plane as there aren't any airplanes or helicopters this big in the world," he said, while estimating the size of the object as roughly 204-foot across, as revealed via a Mirror report.
