Arsenal vs Bayern Munich and PSG vs Real Madrid are the big games of Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League, as the European competition returns after three weeks.
The first two matchdays have already given us some outstanding, exciting and unpredictable football, with this season promising to be another to remember for years to come.
While the usual suspects have looked in charge, there have been quite a few floundering as well, none more so than Arsenal, who will go into their Champions League match on Tuesday, having lost their opening two matches – to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos.
It is quite clear that Arsene Wenger is prioritising the English Premier League this season, but that still does not excuse Arsenal's performances in their first two matches. Bayern Munich are in red-hot form at the moment, having won 12 out of 12 this season, and Arsenal will need to play out of their skins to come away with the three points that they need.
In the other games involving the big teams on Tuesday, Barcelona, the defending champions, travel to Belarus to face BATE Borisov, without their talisman Lionel Messi, who is still recovering from an injury.
Chelsea found that winning touch in the Premier League again on Saturday, and Jose Mourinho will expect all three points from his team when they play Dynamo Kyiv. Chelsea cannot afford another poor result, after their loss to FC Porto on Matchday 2.
On Wednesday, the most eye-catching matchup is between PSG and Real Madrid in Paris, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic lining up against Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid have some injury worries ahead of this game, but the outcome of these back-to-back matches will decide which side finishes top of the group.
Manchester United bounced back from a Matchday 1 loss to PSV Eindhoven with victory over Wolfsburg, and they will want to carry that winning momentum to Russia when they face CSKA Moscow. United's neighbours Manchester City face a tricky match when they welcome Europa League champions Sevilla, and Manuel Pellegrini will hope his team's penchant for a meltdown in Europe does not surface again.
