Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh has made his debut in Bollywood with the latest release "Udta Punjab," and now Dosanjh has reportedly bagged Karan Johar's film next. The actor is one of the most popular superstars in the Punjabi film industry and it looks like he will soon make a place in Bollywood as well.
According to a Bollywood Life report, Karan has roped in Diljit in his upcoming project and the filmmaker will soon announce it officially. If the "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" director has signed Diljit as the lead actor, then it will be interesting to know which Bollywood actress will star opposite him.
In "Udta Punjab," Diljit shared screen space with Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The Abhishek Chaubey directorial, which landed in several controversies before its release, was about the drug trafficking issue in Punjab.
Diljit will be seen in another Bollywood film, titled "Phillauri," which is produced by Anushka Sharma's house production. The film will be a romantic comedy and Anushka will be seen as a ghost in it. Diljit-Anushka's film will be shot in Phillaur, Punjab.
Diljit was recently in news as he was replaced by Emraan Hashmi in Ajay Devgn's "Baadshao." It was reported that the "Ambarsariya" actor demanded high fee and a meaty role in the Milan Luthria directorial.
"Diljit showed interest in the role of the army officer but then at the time of signing the contract, he quoted a fabulous sum as his fee. Actors use the big fat fee excuse to worm their way out of films. After 'Udta Punjab', he only wants to do meaty roles in Hindi films. In his next 'Phillauri,' he will woo Anushka Sharma. Diljit now feels it's better to go with solo leads rather than risk being lost in the big cast," a source told DNA.
