Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday honoured six party members who were released on bail a day after being arrested over an attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni in Mumbai, TV reports said.
Former BJP leader Kulkarni, who was the organiser of former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book launch, was smeared with paint by Shiv Sainiks on Monday.
However, despite the protest, the former BJP ideologue went ahead with the launch of the book -- Neither a Hawk nor a Dove: An Insider's Account of Pakistan's Foreign Policy -- amid heavy security at Mumbai's Nehru Centre as scheduled.
The party even compared Kulkarni to 26/11 terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab and said that he is a Pakistani agent.
However, Kulkarni retorted, saying he is an agent, but of peace in south Asia.
"I am certainly an agent, but not of Pakistan, but of peace between India and Pakistan in south Asia," Kulkarni said at a press conference.
