TV actress Vidhi Pandya of "Balika Vadhu" fame recently made headlines when reports of the actress being roped in to play the role of grown-up Chakor in Colors' "Udaan" surfaced.
However, according to the reports, the makers have now replaced Vidhi with TV actress Meera Deosthale. They took the decision as they felt Vidhi didn't quite fit the character of Chakor.
Interestingly, the changes were made after Vidhi had already shot the promo playing grown-up Chakor. The actress has now been asked to play the role of Imli on the same show.
"Well, it's kind of complicated. Initially the production people wanted Rachna Parulkar to play Chakor. However, channel zeroed in on Vidhi. They intended to cast a fresh face to enact Imli. Promos were shot with Vidhi playing Chakor but somehow there was a mismatch in terms of character and personality semblance," a source told Telly Chakkar.
Confirming the report, Vidhi told the web portal that with Imli's role she will be able to showcase her calibre, which will help her grow as an actor.
"I believe I am an actor in the making not a star. Hence, I chose to play Imli than Chakor. I felt that with Imli's role I can do lots of experimentation, which would prove to be fruitful for my career," Vidhi said.
Meanwhile, Meera, who played the role of Eshwari in "Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls," will now be seen playing the grown-up version of the character portrayed by child artist Spandan Chaturvedi (young Chakor).
"After few changes in the casting and discussions with the channel, the pretty actress Meera has been locked for Chakor's role finally. She will be paired opposite Vijayendra Kumeria," a source told Telly Chakkar.
