Of late, Malayalam movies perform well at the worldwide box office. Majority of recent releases garnered positive response from the audience in Kerala, and made good collection at the overseas markets as well.

Films Sakhavu, Rakshadhikari Baiju and Godha have made good business at the UAE box office. Nivin Pauly's political entertainer Sakhavu, in which the young actor appears in dual roles, is said to have earned a total gross collection of $19,700 (approximately Rs. 1.26 crore) from the overseas market.
Meanwhile, Biju Menon's comedy entertainer Rakshadhikari Baiju (Oppu) has earned more than the Siddhartha Siva directorial, within two weeks of hitting the screens all over the UAE. According to trade analysts, Ranjan Pramod's directorial venture has collected $27,300 (approximately Rs. 1.75 crore), while director Basil Joseph's Godha made a gross business of $25,000 (approximately Rs. 1.6 crore) within two weeks.

Tovino Thomas, Wamiqa Gabbi and Renji Panicker's sports movie Godha, based on wrestling, is expected to continue its good run abroad next week as well. The fact that Godha hasn't received any negative reviews so far makes it one of the best Malayalam movies released recently. The movie, set in a village Kannadikal, narrates the story of the place's connection with wrestling. How a Punjabi girl makes the village proud form the narrative of the movie, which also stars Aju Varghese, Kottayam Pradeep, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bijukuttan, Hareesh Peradi, Hareesh Perumanna, among many others in significant roles.
Rakshadhikari Baiju (Oppu)
In the comedy entertainer, set in a village named Kumbalam, narrates the story of few people, for whom playing cricket/football/badminton is an inevitable part of their daily lives. Though it doesn't have a definite storyline, Rakshadhikari Baiju (Oppu) narrates the routine incidents in a village in a realistic fashion. The movie has an ensemble cast, including Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Hareesh Perumanna, Hannah Reji Koshy, Sankar Induchoodan, Anagha LK, Janardhanan, Indrans, Vijayaraghavan and Dileesh Pothan in main roles.
Sakhavu
In the Sidhartha Siva directorial, Nivin appears in dual roles, as a student political leader as well as a comrade, who fights for his left-wing ideals. Aishwarya Rajesh, Sreenivasan, Aparna Gopinath, Gayathri Suresh, Binu Pappu and Althaf Salim, among others form the cast of the political movie.
