An Indian real estate businessman was attacked by an Arab national at a luxury hotel in Dubai over the weekend after an altercation broke out over 'selfies' clicked by the businessman and his friends.
Mahendran Yadav, who was the managing director of Emirates Homes Real Estate Brokers, was attacked by the unidentified Arab after which he succumbed to his injuries, ArabianBusiness.com reported.
The incident occurred at the One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai on Sunday.
The Indian was with his friends in the shisha lounge of the hotel, when he got into a dispute with the Arab, which led to the alleged attack. Details of how exactly the attack took place are not clear.
Yadav died a day after the attack, on Monday night, the report said.
The Indian had a rags-to-riches story, as he had reportedly worked as a driver in Dubai before turning into a real estate broker.
There are about 2.6 million Indians living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the UAE on a two-day visit starting 16 August.
