Actress Samantha Akkineni is all set to lock horns with her husband Naga Chaitanya, as their movies -- U Turn and Shailaja Reddy Alludu (SRA) -- will clash at the worldwide box office this weekend.
Shailaja Reddy Alludu is slated to hit the screens on September 13 and Naga Chaitanya had announced the release date. The actor tweeted on September 4, "Thank you guys so much for this ! Only because of your support that its come this far ... and a lot lot more to go #SailajaReddyAlludu on sept 13th. [sic]"
A day after his announcement, Samantha Akkineni confirmed that U Turn is set for release on September 13. She tweeted on September 5, "#UTurn in eight days @Samanthaprabhu2 @AadhiOfficial @23_rahulr @bhumikachawlat @pawanfilms @SS_Screens #UTurnTheMovie #UturnonSept13 [sic]"
Shailaja Reddy Alludu is a romantic action comedy film that deals with a love story of a poor boy and a rich girl, whose mother becomes an obstacle for them. Maruthi Dasari has written and directed the movie, which has been produced by S Radha Krishna, Naga Vamsi S, PDV Prasad under the banner of Sithara Entertainments.
Naga Chaitanya, Anu Emmanuel, and Ramya Krishnan are playing the lead role in Shailaja Reddy Alludu, while Vennela Kishore, Naresh, Murali Sharma, and Prudhvi Raj appear in supporting roles. The film was initially slated to hit the screens on August 31 but its release was postponed due to Kerala floods.
U Turn is a thriller film, which is a remake of Pawan Kumar's 2016 Kannada film of the same name. The movie deals with the story of a young reporter (Samantha), who is dismayed at the number of illegal u-turns and resulting traffic accidents. How she becomes a part of the investigation process forms the crux of the story.
Samantha Akkineni, Aadhi Pinisetty and Rahul Ravindran have played the lead roles in U Turn, while Bhumika Chawla, Narain, Ravi Prakash, Aadukalam Naren and Geetha Ravishankar appear in the supporting cast. It is being simultaneously made and released in Telugu and Tamil and the success of its Kannada version has already created a lot of buzz on social media.
