Two militants were killed in an encounter on Saturday morning in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.
The incident was triggered after a joint team of army and police was conducting search operations in Thak-Gund village in Sopore on a tip-off that militants were hiding there. The search prompted the militants to fire at the security forces, resulting in the encounter, PTI quoted a police spokesman as saying.
The slain militants were yet to be identified and the search operation was continuing, the report added.
Earlier, in January, a Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT) terrorist was gunned down by security forces in Sofi Hamam locality of Sopore town in Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla district in a similar encounter where militants hiding in a house open fired at army personnel, triggering an encounter in which the militant was killed.
Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the hideout.
