Twitter released a major update to its social media app on Thursday, bringing huge changes to its user-interface.
The new update is being rolled out to all applications, including TweetDeck, Twitter Lite, desktop, iOS, and Android versions, in phases over the coming days. Major improvements include profile picture re-size, visually appealing icons, instant reply & retweet count update, and more.

Here are major changes coming to the Twitter app:
- With the new update, user's profile, additional accounts, settings, and privacy will be trans-located to a single place.
- Typography has been refined to make it more consistent, and bolder headlines have been added to make it easier for users to focus on what's happening. Also, rounded profile photos make it clearer to see what's being said and who's saying it.
- More intuitive icons make it easier to engage with tweets – especially if you're coming to Twitter for the first time. For example, people thought the reply icon, an arrow, meant delete or go back to a previous page. It has been changed to a speech bubble, a symbol most know. The icons have also been made lighter for more seamless interaction.
- Tweets now update instantly with reply, Retweet, and like counts so you can see conversations as they're happening – live. [only to Android and iOS]

Apple iOS specific Twitter update:
- The update also brings a new side navigation menu and fewer tabs at the bottom of the app, thus decluttering the bottom space for easier browsing. [Note: It was already made available in Android last year and now it finally comes to Apple iOS]
- Links to articles and websites now open in Safari's viewer in the Twitter app so you can easily access accounts on websites you're already signed into.
- Apple device owners will also notice additional accessibility choices, such as increased colour contrast and the option to always open supported links in Safari Reader view.
