Twitter has become an integral part of our lives today, as is evident from the thousands of tweets shared on the micro-blogging site every second.

Even though the social media network was created in March 2006, it was launched only in July 2006 and Wednesday, 15 July 2015, marks the ninth anniversary of Twitter.

Created by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone and Noah Glass, Twitter has more than 500 million users, of which 302 million were active users as of May, 2015. Just three years ago, there were only about 100 million users.

Twitter has now become a platform for cyber users to discuss and celebrate each and every topic.

Strangely, it seems Twitterati has forgotten about the site's ninth anniversary, as the topic is not trending on the micro-blogging site on Wednesday.

The active presence of Hollywood and Bollywood celebs, socialites, fashionistas, politicians, sportspersons, businessmen, activists and journalists, among others, makes Twitter a truly vibrant, interactive medium to exchange views and news, apart from trolling.
