Virat Kohli was delighted after he met Sir Vivian Richards ahead of the first Test match against West Indies in India. The kind of valuable inputs he must have got from Sir Richards, the world saw him implementing them on day one of the first Test as he went on to score his 12th Test century against West Indies at their backyard.
Kohli also went past 3000 runs in the longest format of the game. Kohli is still unbeaten at the crease on 143 and the Indian fans will want him to reach his first double hundred in Tests on Friday.
Kohli (74.00*) now has the second highest average as captain away from home (minimum of 10 innings) after Sir Don Bradman (85.63).
Kohli became the third Indian captain to score a century in West Indies in Tests after Kapil Dev (100* in 1983) and Rahul Dravid (146 in 2006). He also became the eighth batsman to score a ton in his maiden Test as captain in West Indies. Kohli joined MS Dhoni as the former also took 18 innings to reach 1000 runs as the captain of Indian cricket team.
