TVS Motors has launched its new Scooty Zest in India with a price tag of ₹42,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Scooty zest, the latest in the TVS Scooty line-up, was first shown at Delhi Auto Expo 2014 and comes powered by the same 110cc CVTi engine, which does duty in Wego and Jupiter.
Talking of the style and design of the new scooty Zest, it looks more appealing with new 'twilights' front head-lamps, LED tail-lights, textured floor boards, back-lit odometer and stainless steel muffler guard.
It comes with under-seat storage capacity of 19 litres and gets telescopic forks at front and monoshock at the rear. While the front tyre is of size 90/100-10, the rear tyre measures 90/90-10.
The engine is tuned to churn out 7.88 bhp power at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm and comes mated to a V-Matic CVT transmission. The scooter promises a fuel efficiency of 62 kmpl and can accelerate from 0-60 km/h in 11.1 seconds.
Seated on a wheelbase of 1,250mm , the new Scooty Zest measures 1,770 mm in length, 660 mm in width and 1,139 in height. The scooter features both electric and kick start and will be competing with Honda Activa, Honda Dio, Yamaha Ray, Suzuki Let's and Hero Pleasure in the domestic market.
With the launch of new scooter, TVS aims to expand its reach in the country and hopes to sell round 10,000 units of its new Scooty Zest in the first month.
In July, TVS Motors reported 32.15 percent increase in its total sales, selling 2,03,092 units this year against the 1,53,676 units in the corresponding month last year. The domestic sales of the company rose 30 percent in July to 1,64,571 from 1,26,531 units in the year-ago period.
