The first motorcycle from the alliance between TVS and BMW Motorrad, the G310R, is expected to be launched at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016. The emerging reports indicate that the partnership is also working on another full faired motorcycle codenamed U69, which will be based on the G310R. The U69 in production avatar will be a product of TVS, while the BMW will play a key role in its engineering.
According to Rushlane, BMW will take care of the R&D of the U69, while TVS will manufacture both the motorcycles at its mother plant in Hosur, near Bangalore.
The fully faired U69 is expected to share the same engine of G310R. The all-new 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves and two overhead camshafts is equipped with electronic fuel injection. The striking feature of this engine is its backward-tilted cylinder in open-deck design with the cylinder head turned 180 degrees. The engine develops an output of 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm, and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500 rpm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. The faired sibling is expected get slightly higher power and torque figures.
Both motorcycles are expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016 to be held at Greater Noida in February. At the moment, TVS Motor Company will concentrate on the launch of the Apache RTR 200, which is likely to hit roads on 20 January.
