TVS Motor Company had launched Apache RTR 200 4V in carburetted and fuel injection (FI) versions in January. The deliveries of the carburetted version commenced soon after launch, while the FI version kept on postponing. Emerging reports indicate that the FI version may not be available this year.
Apache RTR 4V FI deliveries are yet to start and they will only start by February next year reports MotorBeam. TVS dealers are unofficially started accepting booking for the Apache FI version but officially it is expected to start in mid-January. There is still no clarity on the deliveries of the top-spec FI with ABS version. This model can be expected only mid-2017.
The high demand for Apache RTR 200 4V in export markets is reportedly the prime suspect for delay. The export-spec model is only produced in FI and ABS version. TVS will not be able to meet the demand in the domestic market without an increase in production. According to reports, TVS is now looking for a plan to increase production.
The fully loaded FI version of Apache RTR 200 4V with dual-channel ABS and optional Pirelli tyres is priced at Rs 1.27 lakh. The carburetted variant is priced at Rs 1.08 lakh, on-road Bengaluru.
Based on the double cradle split Syncro stiff frame, Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by 197.75cc oil-cooled engine. While the carburetted version makes 20.3bhp, the fuel injected versions churn out 21bhp at 8500 rpm. In both the variants, torque output remains the same at 18.1Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to five-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle is employed with telescopic front suspension and mono-suspension at rear. The braking is taken care of by 270mm disc at front and 240mm disc at rear and the motorcycle runs on 90/90 section front and 130/70 section rear tyres on 17 inch wheels.
