In what appears to be good news about the arrival of the Akula 310 from the house of TVS Motor, the model has hit the roads for testing, giving an early glimpse at the racing motorcycle .
Caught on camera by DriveSpark, the Akula was spied undergoing tests in the outskirts of Bangalore. There is nothing much one can pull out from these early spy shots as the images are not clear, but it will be music to the ears of biking enthusiasts, who are waiting to swing their legs ovcer this model.
The production-spec Akula 310 is expected to be called as Apache RTR 300. From the images, the Akula seems to have a got a different treatment at the front with the prototype headlamps showing new design along with LED pilot lamps placed on both sides. It remains to be seen if the same will make it to the production model.
The TVS Akula 310 is expected to make it to production by the end of this year. The launch is expected to fall in early 2017. The company had earlier teased the model and the racing concept was also shown at the Auto Expo 2016 in February.
The Akula 310 is expected to be powered by a 310cc engine, which is capable of producing 34bhp of power and mated to a six-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that also does duty in the BMW 310 R motorcycle the company revealed last year.
The BMW G 310 R is jointly developed by Indo-German alliance BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company and will be manufactured at the TVS Motor facility in Tamil Nadu. It is the first BMW motorcycle to be made in India and also the first to be manufactured outside Europe.
