TVS Motor Company unveiled the Akula 310 concept at the Auto Expo 2016 and the bike has been a favourite topic of discussion for motor enthusiasts in the country since then. The Akula 310, which is expected to make its way into the Indian market in early 2017, is currently in its testing phase in the country and has been caught on camera several times.
While a lot has already been talked about its launch and features, what was being glossed over is its price tag. Now emerging reports suggest that the Akula 310, the bike based on BMW Motorrad's G 310 R, will get a price tag under Rs 2 lakh. The Akula 310, the bike coming from TVS-BMW Motorrad alliance, will be produced at the Hosur plant of TVS Motor Company.
Based on the BMW G 310 R platform, the Akula 310 will be powered by a 310cc engine capable of producing 34bhp of power and will come with a six-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that also powers BMW G 310 R. The Akula 310, which was showcased at the auto show, was seen with USD forks, lightweight carbon fibre bodywork and digital speedometer.
Other features include a digital speedometer, on-board gyro cameras and a steering damper for additional stability. These are expected to continue in the production-spec as well. The Akula 310 may also get features such as ABS and petal disc.
The Akula 310 is expected to hit the assembly lines in India in December this year.
