TVS' upcoming motorcycle Akula 310 has been seen on the Indian roads undergoing testing ahead of its expected launch early next year. Akula 310, the concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016, will come from the TVS-BMW Motorrad alliance and is expected to be manufactured at the Hosur plant of TVS Motor Company.
The racing bike, Akula 310, is based on BMW G 310 R and is expected to hit the assembly lines in India towards the end of this year. If the rumours are to be believed, Akula 310 could be launched in India by March 2017. TVS Motor's CFO Chief Financial Officer S G Murali confirmed it in a recent statement.
To be powered by a 310cc engine capable of producing 34bhp of power, Akula 310 will come with a six-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that also powers BMW G 310 R.
At the auto show, Akula 310 was seen with USD forks, lightweight carbon fibre bodywork and digital speedometer. Other features include a digital speedometer, on board gyro cameras and a steering damper for additional stability. These are expected to continue in the production-spec as well. The Akula 310 could also get features such as ABS and petal disc.
While Akula 310 is the name of the concept, rumour has it that the production-version of the bike could be called Apache RTR 300 or TVS Raptor. As for pricing, expect the Akula 310 to get a price tag in the range of Rs 1.40 lakh to 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
