A Telugu TV serial shooting turned tragic when a car ran over two kids killing one of them and injuring the other on Friday in Chandanagar, outskirts of Hyderabad.
A 5-year-old boy, Satwik Reddy, was killed and a 9-year-old girl, Satwika, was seriously injured when TV serial actress, Archana, lost control of a car during the shooting of a daily soap, "Indrani".
Police have arrested Archana and the unit manager Venkateshwar Rao of Gemini TV and cases have been filed against the driver of the car and the director of the serial, according to The Times of India.
The accident occurred on Friday during the shoot of "Indrani" near a park in Chandanagar, when both the girl and the boy were watching the shooting.
For the scene, the actress was supposed to drive a Tata Indica car for about 20 meters. Since she did not know how to drive a four-wheeler, she enacted the scene with the help of a driver, according to police.
"But when the driver started the car and gave the steering to Archana, the car swerved, picked up speed and crashed into the steps of a park from where the children were watching the shooting," TOI quoted Chandanagar SI Srinivas Rao as saying.
The out-of-control car rammed onto two steps of the pavement and hit the children, resulting in critical injuries.
The residents of the colony and the crew members immediately rushed both the kid to a nearby hospital where Satwik was declared brought dead. Satwika, however, escaped with a fractured leg.
According to police, Archana did not have a driving license of a four-wheeler. The police also said that the serial manager and the crew member had not taken prior permission for the shooting.
Victim's family have filed a case against them, and based on the complaint, police have booked cases against the actress, director Sharath Babu, unit manager Rao and the driver under IPC sections 304-A (causing death due to negligent) and 337 (causing injuries due to negligent), TOI reports.
