Video footage has been released showing the aftermath of two bomb blasts that hit a peace rally in the Turkish capital Ankara, killing at least 20 people.
The footage shows chaotic scenes as those attending the peace march treat the wounded lying on the ground as hundreds of stunned people wandered around the streets. Wrapped up bodies can also be seen in two circles around 20m apart, where the explosions had taken place.
The two explosions happened seconds apart shortly after 10:00am local time (8am BST), as hundreds gathered for planned peace march by the citys main train station. Protesters had been planning to hold a rally against the conflict between Turkish security forces and Kurdish militants in the south-east of the country.
Violence between the state and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants has flared since July, when Turkey launched air strikes on militant camps in response to what it said were rising attacks on the security forces. Hundreds have since died.
Designated a terrorist group by Turkey, the US and the EU, the PKK launched a separatist insurgency in 1984 in which more than 40,000 people have been killed.
At least 20 people are believed to have been killed in todays explosions. Authorities have labelled the explosions as a terror attack and are investigating claims that the blasts were carried out by suicide bombers, two government officials told Reuters.
