It has taken several years for the makers of "Tum Bin" to put the idea of a sequel into motion, but it was worth the wait. Neha Sharma, Aditya Seal, and Aashim Gulati are set to play love-struck individuals in the second instalment.
Director-writer Anubhav Sinha, who begins work on the film April 4, told Mumbai Mirror that the team finalised the actors after 1,500 screen tests. He added they didn't want "established stars" for the project saying the supporting cast too doesn't feature big names.
Neha entered the film industry with Emraan Hashmi's "Crook," Aditya made a controversial start as the voyeuristic kid in Shashilal K. Nair's "Ek Chhotisi Love Story" alongside Manisha Koirala, and Aashim has done only TV shows so far.
"None of the original cast, including Priyanshu Chatterjee, Himanshu Malik, Raqesh Vashisth or Sandali Sinha will be back," Anubhav informed. The shooting, which is set to commence in Glasgow and Edinburgh, is expected to wrap up by end of May and the film arrives in theatres Nov. 18.
Anubhav described the film as an "intense love story," but also added that it has nothing to do with the original. He is aware of the strong fan following the first part has and doesn't want to ruin it.
The songs — "Tumhare Siva," "Koi Fariyaad" and "Chhoti Chhoti Raatein" — from "Tum Bin" had become chartbusters and the sequel will feature an album by Ankit Tiwari.
"This is the first time that Ankit will be composing the entire score for an album. He will also be singing some of the tracks himself. The lyrics are by Manoj Muntashir with one song penned by Shakeel Azmi," the leading daily quoted Anubhav as saying.
Meanwhile, here's what the stars and director have to say on their new film together:
