HBO will be returning with the premiere of "True Detective" season 2 on Sunday, 21 June, at 9 pm and the main focus of the show is still being kept under wraps. While the official synopsis revolves around city manager Ben Caspar's disappearance, trailers hint at "satanic sex" and "corporate conspiracy".
The description of the first episode titled "The Western Book of the Dead" states that the "disappearance of a city manager disrupts a lucrative land scheme and ignites an investigation involving three police officers and a career criminal who is moving into legitimate business."
But Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams), in a sneak peek video, indicates that the focus of the crime drama will be on "corporate conspiracy" and "rough sex".
"This girls gone missing, nobody cares. The interior is poisoned and silenced with billions, nobody care," says the character.
Meanwhile, shots of Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch) shown in the promotional clips show him at several mysterious locations. Some of the shots hint that he is unknowingly involved in several crimes. In one of the trailers, he says, "This is not me doing this. This is not me."
On the other hand, Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell) and Vince Vaughn (Frank Semyon) seem to be teaming up probably to eliminate evidence against the prime suspect. But when McAdams' character asks the California Highway Patrol officer, "Tell me how compromised are you?", he replies, "I welcome judgement."
NBC series is also expected to have a long list of supporting cast, including Adria Arjona as Emily, Christopher James Baker as Blake Churchman, Matt Battaglia as Commander Floyd Heschmeyer, Kelly Reilly as Jordan Semyon, Michael Irby as Elvis Ilinca, Lolita Davidovich as Cynthia Woodrugh, Leven Rambin as Sophia, Abigail Spencer as Alicia, James Frain as Lt. Kevin Burris, Yara Martinez as Felicia, Afemo Omilami as Police Chief Holloway and Jon Lindstrom as Jacob McCandless.
