Colors' "Naagin" continued to reign the Television Rating Points (TRP) charts in week 8 (Feb.20 to Feb. 26) of 2016, according to the data released March 4 by Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, the television audience measurement agency.
Supernatural weekend show "Naagin," which has Mouni Roy, Adaa Khan and Arjun Bijlani in the lead roles scored 5.7 (Saturday) and 6.1 (Sunday).
"Saath Nibhaana Saathiya" secured the second spot with 3.8 TRPs, pushing "Kumkum Bhagya" to the third slot with 3.7 points. For the past few weeks, "Kumkum Bhagya" was the most watched TV show after "Naagin." However, with the drop in the ratings of "Kumkum Bhagya," it looks like the over-stretched track of exposing Tanu (Leena Jumani) has affected the TRPs of Abhi-Pragya's show.
"Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" witnessed a steep increase in its ratings. The show scored 3.4 TRPs compared to 2.9 points in week 7. The show has been throwing interesting twists one after the other. With Ishita's (Divyanka Tripathi) death and Raman's (Karan Patel) announcing his wedding to Nidhi (Pavitra Punia) to his family, the show has kept its viewers hooked to the TV sets.
"Sasural Simar Ka" grabbed the fifth position with 3.2 TRPs, while "Swaragini," "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai" and "Diya Aur Baati Hum" scored 3.0, 2.7 and 2.6 TRPs respectively. "Thapki Pyar Ki" and "Udann" scored 2.4 ratings each.
"Jamai Raja" managed to get 2.3 points, which is same as Krushna Abhishek's "Comedy Nights Live".
TRP is a tool to measure viewers' most preferred programmes and the popularity of a particular channel based on data collected from a particular geography and demography.
