In a surprising turn of events, Naagin 2, which has been ruling Television Rating Point (TRP) charts since its beginning, has lost its top position in Week 17 (April 22 to 28 of 2017) to Kumkum Bhagya.

According to Tellychakkar.com, Kumkum Bhagya garnered 6.48 million views while Mouni Roy's show slipped to the second spot with 6.43 million viewership.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai came third, with 5.7 million views. Singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs grabbed the fourth spot with 5.6 million views, apart from being ranked as the best in the non-fictional category.
Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki remained steady, managing to stay in the top five, most-watched shows. In the sixth position was Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (4.8 million), followed by Udaan and Shani with 4.6 million and 4.4 million views, respectively.
Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and Rising Star secured the ninth and tenth position, respectively. Surpringly, The Kapil Sharma and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah failed to enter in the top 10 most-watched TV shows.
As for the ranking of television channels in urban areas, Star Plus retained its No. 1 position, while Colors grabbed the second spot, followed by Zee TV, Sony SAB and Sony Entertainment Television. The other top channels are Life OK, Sony Pal, Rishtey, Sony Utsav and &TV.
TRP is a tool to measure viewers' preferred programmes and the popularity of a particular channel based on data collected from a particular geography and demography.
