After months of speculation, it is now confirmed that Trisha will be a part of Ajith-Gautham Menon's "Thala 55" (referred by fans as it is Ajith's 55th film).
The Gautham directorial is one of the most-anticipated films of 2014 as the director has teamed up with Ajith for the first time. The film's shooting, which commenced in April, is progressing at a brisk pace.
"Singam" actor Anushka Shetty plays the female lead opposite Ajith in the film, touted to be an action thriller. Speculations were doing the rounds that Trisha will be playing the other heroine's role in "Thala 55."
But now, Trisha has confirmed being part of "Thala 55." This will be the second time that she will be working with director Gautham Menon post the critically-acclaimed and commercially successful film "Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya" ("VTV")and it will be her fourth film with Ajith after "Kireedam", "Ji" and "Mankatha."
The actor is said to be playing a parallel role to Anushka in the two-heroine subject, reported Sify. It is being said that Trisha's character is a pivotal one and the "VTV" star will join "Thala 55" shooting from the next schedule.
In a recent interview, Gautham Menon revealed some details about his untitled flick. The director has hinted that "Thala 55" is a character oriented film and is woven around Ajith's role. He also stated that there might be possibilities of making sequels in this genre, if the film performs well at the box office.
"The story of my film is built around a character. If this one strikes the right chord among the audience there are possibilities for more sequels and this film will also pave way for a new genre," Gautham said in an interview, according to Behindwoods.
The director has also stated that Ajith will sport a toned look for a portion in the film and his look is being kept as a secret to surprise his fans. The toned body is said to be one of the highlights of the film.
"Thala 55" team is currently in Malaysia shooting some key portions. Almost 25 percent of the shooting is reportedly completed and the team is planning to wrap up the project in around 100 days. The film is expected to be released this year.
Actors Arun Vijay and Vivek are also playing pivotal roles in the film. Cinematographer Dan Macarthur is wielding the camera and music composer Harris Jayaraj is taking care of the soundtracks. The big budget entertainer is produced by A.M. Ratnam.
