Tributes from across the world are pouring in for Phillip Hughes, who died on Thursday, after he was hit by a ball on the side of his head during the Sheffield Shield match between South Wales and South Australia.
A social media campaign with the hashtag #putyourbatout and #putyourbat has been trending in all social networking sites, where cricketers and fans are posting pictures of their cricket bats, as a tribute to the late 25-year-old Australian cricketer.
Australia head coach Darren Lehmann posted: "RIP you little champ, we are all going to miss you! Love, prayers to all the Hughes family xxxx"
Australian cricketer Steve Smith wrote: "Rest in peace Hughesy. I am really going to miss you. You were 1 of the great blokes and I will never forget you. #408 will live on forever."
Search Engine giant Google also paid tribute to the young cricket star on the homepage of its Australian site.
From cricket legends Adam Gilchrist, Sachin Tendulkar, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot and many well-known personalities and fans of the cricketer expressed their grief on the demise of Hughes.
