A fresh batch of images of Toyota Vios sedan has started doing the rounds again, consolidating the belief that the company could bring it to the Indian market soon. Toyota has been testing the Vios on Indian roads for quite a while now. However, the company has not divulged anything about bringing the Vios to the Indian market.
Toyota had earlier imported the Vios for research and development from Thailand for a declared value of Rs. 9.4 lakh and the car was also spotted testing on roads a few times. Now the latest images of the Vios come from CarandBike, and interestingly, the test mule of the Vios was seen without any hint of camouflage. The Vios spotted recently was seen without the logo of Toyota in front and appears to be the production version.
If the Vios comes to India, the sedan would enter the territory of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen Vento. In terms of dimensions, the Vios measures 4,410mm in length, 1,700mm in width and 1,475mm in height, and has a large wheelbase of 2,550mm. The Vios is likely to come equipped with safety features such as anti-lock brake system (ABS) and dual front airbags as standard. Other expected features include touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leather upholstery and start-stop button.
Under the hood, the Vios in the international market is powered by 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre diesel motor. If launched in India, the Vios would be imported from Thailand as completely knocked-down units (CKD) and will be assembled at Toyota India's manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.
