It appears like the Lexus cars will soon be on the Indian roads as the emerging images suggest that the company has started shipping the demo models to the subcontinent market. It has been long–rumoured that Toyota's premium brand Lexus is preparing to set foot in India and what comes as solid evidence to this is, the Lexus models have started reaching the market.
A couple of prototypes of different models of Lexus have already been spied on the Indian soil and the latest image is of the RX450h crossover. RX450h is likely to be one of the products in India under the Lexus brand. It was reported earlier that Toyota's Lexus in India will start the operations in early 2017 with three models. The product portfolio for the Indian market is likely to include RX450h SUV, ES300h sedan and LX series SUV
Lexus RX450h is the most popular product in the company's portfolio. The Lexus RX450h will be powered by 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine complemented with a hybrid unit. The powertrain will return 308hp mated to an e-CVT gearbox. The Lexus RX450h will be pitted against the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3.
Toyota is expected to set up separate sales network for its Lexus premium offerings in India and the models will be initially brought to India as completely built units (CBU). The exclusive showrooms are initially likely to be in Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi and the company would expand it to other cities later. Apparently, only the existing dealers of Toyota stand a chance to bag the newly planned dealerships of Lexus. Lexus' international portfolio includes both petrol and diesel engine models.
