Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the updated base variant of its popular MPV Innova in India with a price tag ranging from ₹10.51 lakh and ₹15.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The company also rolled out a new top-end variant of its SUV Fortuner. Powered by the same, a 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine 171 PS at 3,600rpm, the new Fortuner 4×4 AT variant comes mated to 5-speed automatic gearbox. With the newest variant, now Fortuner is available in four variants - 4x2 Manual, 4x4 Manual, 4x2 Automatic and 4x4 Automatic. The Fortuner 4x4 AT is priced in the range of ₹24.17 lakh to ₹26.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
"The Innova and the Fortuner are two very successful products and both these vehicles are trend setters in the Indian automobile industry. Now with the Innova turning 10, it is indeed a proud moment for all of us at Toyota to have witnessed a successful journey for the past decade. We thank our loyal customers for their support and trust in our brands that have helped us reach this milestone," said N Raja, Director & Senior Vice President (Sales & Marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd.
Coming to the new Innova variant, the model has not received any major changes in terms of style and features, except for the standard front SRS airbags and changes like dark grey dual tone alloys and dark grey dual tone alloys.
There is also Oak interior colour in the added list. However, the prices of Innova have gone up in the country, not just because of the added features, but also because of the government's decision to roll back excise duty concessions.
The current top-end ZX variant now costs ₹73,000 more due to the excise duty hike.
In India, Toyota continues testing its new generation Innova, which is expected to reach our shores in 2016. The previous spy shots have shown dual tone donned interior with big multi-info touchscreen and three-spoke steering wheel and the new model also looks longer than the existing version.
