Toyota Kirlosakar Motor (TKM) revealed the prices of the new Innova MPV, christened the Innova Crysta, in the beginning of this month, and its bookings have also commenced. TKM has already received over 15,000 bookings so far, and the waiting period has already extended to two months.
A report in Zigwheels quoted TKM General Manager (Sales) Balaji Narayan as announcing the two-month waiting period when the company launched the Innova Crysta on May 13 in Mumbai. Over 60 percent of the 15,000 bookings received so far are for the automatic version. The Innova Crysta has been priced in the range of Rs. 13,83,677 to Rs. 20,77,930 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The Innova Crysta is sold in two grades with an automatic transmission (Zx, Gx) and four grades with manual transmission (Zx, Vx, Gx and G). The Innova Crysta has two diesel engine options. The 2,393cc diesel engine develops 148bhp of power and 243Nm of torque, while the 2,755cc mill churns out 172bhp and 360Nm of torque. The 2.4-litre engine is mated to manual transmission and the 2.8-litre diesel engine comes mated to automatic transmission. While the former returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 15.10kmpl, the latter returns 14.29kmpl.
TKM is also reportedly mulling to launch a petrol-powered Innova Crysta. "We are meeting all the emission norms as per government regulations... Diesel is a good fuel and we hope that the ban will be lifted some day. However, we are working on the petrol engine of Innova, the highest selling MPV in the country," Money Control quoted Sailesh Shetty, VP of TKM, as saying.
Toyota has sold six lakh first-generation Innovas — launched in 2005 — in the country and introduced three facelift in the 11 years since. The first generation also attracted 16 lakh customers globally.
