Moving closer to its launch in the country, the petrol variant of the Innova Crysta has hit the assembly lines at Toyota's factory in India. Toyota Innova Crysta, the new version of the popular MPV Innova, is expected to get the petrol-powered variant in August.

The bookings for the Innova Crysta petrol are already underway in the country and the MPV in its petrol model is likely to be priced at around Rs. 14 lakh. Currently, the Innova Crysta is offered only with diesel engine options.

Launched in May, the MPV has been earning tremendous response in the market and has received over 30,000 bookings for diesel models alone. It was also being reported that Toyota is planning to increase the production of the Innova Crysta diesel to meet the increasing demand.

In the petrol-variant, the Innova Crysta will come powered by an in-line 4-cyl 2.7-litre unit that can churn out 164bhp at 5,200 rpm and 250Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, reports GaadiWaadi. The transmission in the Innova Crysta petrol is expected to be taken care of by a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox. No other changes are expected to be made in the model in terms of style and features.

Launched in May, the MPV is currently priced starting at Rs. 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Innova Crysta now has a waiting period of three months in India. It is offered in three trims — G, V and Z. The Innova Crysta petrol is expected to be priced about Rs. 60,000 lower than the current diesel models.

Currently, the Innova Crysta is offered with a 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre diesel engines. While the 2,393cc diesel engine develops 148bhp of power and 243Nm of torque, the 2,755cc mill churns out 172bhp and 360Nm of torque. The engines come mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
