The prices of Toyota's newly launched SUV the Fortuner and the MPV the Innova Crysta will go up in India soon. Toyota has announced that the prices of its range of vehicles in the country will see a hike in January 2017 as there is an increase in manufacturing cost.
The hike is also likely to affect the newly launched models. Toyota launched the Innova Crysta in the country in May in diesel avatar and added the petrol variants to its line-up in August. On the other hand, the new iteration of the popular SUV the Fortuner made its way to the Indian market in November. Both the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner have been raking in good numbers since their launch.
While Toyota has not revealed the model-wise price details, it is said that the hike will be by up to 3 percent.
"We do a periodic review of the prices of our products basis the above factors and take necessary actions. We have been absorbing all the additional costs till now thereby protecting our customers from the price increase. However, owing to continued pressure of high costs and foreign exchange rates remaining at high levels of above Rs. 68 USD, we have been pressured to increase the cost of our products," said N. Raja, director & sr. vice president, Marketing and Sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
