Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will launch Innova Crysta on May 3. Latest reports say the delivery of the diesel model will commence May 13 while that of petrol models will begin only in August.
A report in Gaadiwaadi.com says the Japanese company will officially start the booking process for the popular MPV in April. The new generation of the MPV made a debut in the country at Auto Expo 2016 in February. Post the unveiling, many Toyota dealers have started booking the MPV unofficially for down payments starting at Rs. 40,000.
The new generation Innova is entering the market 10 years after the first generation Innova was launched in India. In its latest avatar, the vehicle shows a complete makeover in its exterior and interior looks, and powertrains. The front facia of Innova Crysta features a big hexagonal grille with two thick chrome slats on the top that blend into the LED projector headlamps. The bumper sports fog lamps and turn indicators are in a single cluster with chrome housing.
The new car will be available in the new top-of-the-line Q variant, followed by the V and G trims. The Q variant features 17-inch alloy wheels in a new design while the V and G trims get 16-inch alloy wheels in a different design. The rear lamps sport a new boomerang-style design. The lamps are also larger than the current model, and the rear bumpers have also undergone some tweaks.
The interior gets a fresh appeal with the new dashboard having been inspired from the Fortuner. The instrument panel is decorated with a bluish ambience light, which is also the theme light inside the cabin.
Innova Crysta will be powered by GD 2.4-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines. The 2,393cc engine develops 147bhp and 359Nm of torque mated to a manual gearbox, the in-line four-cylinder 2,000cc VVT-i petrol engine churns out 137bhp and 183Nm of torque. The petrol mill will be available with manual and automatic transmissions.
