Toyota Corolla Altis Automatic Demand Soars in India

Toyota's newly launched Corolla Altis is understood to be receiving great response in the country as a new report suggests that the Altis' waiting period in the national capital has gone up to two months within days of its launch.

A Autocar India report says that the 11^th generation Corolla Altis is in great demand in the country and 60-70 percent of the bookings are for Automatic variant of the car. The report also notes that the waiting period of Altis petrol is a month-and-a-half in Delhi, while the diesel enjoys a waiting period up to two months.

"Most customers are booking automatic model drive themselves and are looking for ease of driving, while the chauffer-driven are going in for the manual models," Autocar India quoted a dealer.

The new Corolla Altis, a premium sedan offering of Toyota in India launched in May is being offered in five petrol trims - J(S), G, G-CVT, GL and VL (CVT) and four diesel trims - DJ, DJ(S), DG and DGL in the domestic market.

First unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the all-new eleventh generation Corolla Altis packs the same 1.8-litre VVTi petrol and 1.4-litre D-4 D diesel engines. While the 1.8l Dual VVTi Petrol engine is tuned to churn out a power of 138.1 bhp at 6,400 rpm and peak torque of 173 Nm at 4,000 rpm, the 1.4 liter D4D diesel produces 87.2 bhp power at 3,800 rpm and 205 Nm torque at 1,800-2,800 rpm.

The petrol motor comes coupled to a Super CVT-i with seven-speed Sequential Shitmatic AT along with newly introduced "Paddle Shift" and the diesel comes with Variable Nozzle Turbo and Intercooler mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

On the safety front, Toyota's new offering comes loaded with Brake Assist with EBD and ABS, dual SRS airbags, immobilizer and rear camera with display audio screen. The car is offered in seven colours - White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Mica Metallic, Grey Metallic, Blue Metallic, Champaign Mica Metallic, Super White II and Celestial Black.
