Superstar Rajinikanth's "Kabali" is expected to set the cash registers ringing upon its release on July 22. Its song "Neruppu Da" has already become an anthem for Rajini fans, who are waiting to see the much-loved avatar of Thalaivar on the big screen. Now an upcoming Malayalam film is also getting a touch of the superstar's gangster movie.
Singer Arunraja Kamaraj, who rendered his voice for the superhit song "Neruppu Da," has sung the title song of the movie "Oru Mexican Aparatha," starring Tovino Thomas and Roopesh Peethambaran. In the video that shows the making of the film's teaser song, the Tamil playback singer has sung the introduction part of the song, which is also the title of the Tom Emmatty-directed film.
"This is the first time am singing for a Malayalam movie. It is the first movie of music director Manikandan and director Tom Emmatty. The film's title is 'Oru Mexican Aparatha,' which itself is a revolutionary name (translated from Tamil)," Anuraja is heard saying in the video shared on YouTube by the film's director.
"Oru Mexican Aparatha," set in the backdrop of Maharaja's College in Ernakulam in the 1970s, narrates how students established the political party, Students Federation of India (SFI) in the institution. Tovino will be seen in lead role. Roopesh, who made his acting debut as a child artiste in the role of Thomas Chacko in the superhit Mohanlal-starrer "Spadikam," plays the antagonist here. He will be seen as the leader of a rival party, the Kerala Students Union (KSU).
A few days earlier, the makers of the upcoming movie had released a group photo in which the actors were dressed like the students of 1970s. "Oru Mexican Aparatha" is being scripted by Jude Anthony Joseph of "Om Shanti Oshaana"-fame.
