The North London Derby is upon us again as Arsenal travel to White Hart Lane to take on a Tottenham who remain the only team that can realistically challenge Chelsea for the title right now. Mauricio Pochettino's side are only four points behind Chelsea and should the Blues lose to Everton today, it would get them right back into the Premier League title race.
Also, the fact that Tottenham are set to finish above Arsenal for the first time since 1995 will give them the extra motivation they need to get the three points and possibly challenge Chelsea for the title with just a few games remaining.
Tottenham have been outstanding in the Premier League this season and except for that 4-2 loss against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals recently, they more than deserve their status as one of the best teams in English football at the moment.
The likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Heung Min Son have played an instrumental role for Tottenham this season and the trio will be hoping to get one over their biggest rivals today. The only concern for Tottenham is that Danny Rose will be out despite returning to training. However, Ben Davis has done really well in his place.
Apart from Rose, Erik Lamela and Harry Winks are both unavailable as they are long term absentees, but goalkeeper Michel Vorm could make the bench for this match after recovering from a knee injury.
The Tottenham manager said during his pre-match press conference that he is not thinking too much about Arsenal's position in the league table but is instead focusing on every game in the hopes of winning the Premier League.
"I knew it was a big London derby but I felt the magnitude of what it means to the Tottenham fans when I started here and felt how the fans feel," Sky sports quoted Pochettino as saying.
As far as Arsenal goes, the Gunners are certainly the underdogs heading into this match, this being one of the few times their biggest rival are being tipped as the favourites. It will be interesting to see if Arsene Wenger decides to go with a back three again or revert back to his standard back four.
The Frenchman has a number of injuries to deal with including that of Laurent Koscielny who just has a 60 per cent chance of playing today. If Koscielny was deemed not fit, then Arsenal would be short of defenders as Shkodran Mustafi is expected to be out for another two weeks. Apart from them, David Ospina, Lucas Perez and Santi Cazorla are also out of this match.
Arsenal have been in the worst possible form under Wenger this season and a strong and convincing performance against Tottenham will do wonders in terms of improving their confidence for the rest of the season.
In their last two Premier League matches, Arsenal just managed to scrap through a 2-1 win against Middlesbrough and a 1-0 win against Leicester City. However, Tottenham play at a different level all together and Arsenal will have to be at their best if they are to come out of this match with any positive result.
Despite Arsenal being tipped to lose today, Wenger said that his players are capable to fight in today's north London derby against Tottenham.
"We were a bit like a boxer who got put on the floor twice. We lost and people interpreted that as them not caring. No. Maybe it's because they care very much that we were like that - shocked. We were shocked. I think the players care. The players have a good mentality. I love the attitude of this team. There's a good atmosphere compared to one or two months ago," Wenger said.
