Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was delighted following his teams 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday night (2 November) but brushed off talks regarding his teams form, and made it clear that his only objective is to prepare his team for their next game, which is against Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday (5 November).
The north London club are unbeaten in the Premier League since their opening day loss to Manchester United, and are currently in fifth place in the league, just one point behind the Red Devils. The Argentine manager, however, is not concerned by his teams unbeaten run, despite admitting that it is a good achievement.
Its a good achievement, but to be honest, for me, it (10 matches unbeaten) means nothing because we are ambitious and we want to win the next game, Pochettino said, as quoted on Tottenhams official site.
The stats are good, yes, but we need to move on. If you look at the past you stay in the past. We need to improve, to learn.
Tottenham started their game against the Villans in fine fashion with Mousa Dembele, who is one of their form players, giving them the lead with just three minutes on the clock. Dele Alli, who is slowly but surely making inroads into nailing down a permanent place in the starting XI, doubled the lead at half-time to make it comfortable for Spurs.
The Premier Leagues bottom placed club, however, made their way into the game in the second-half and gave Pochettinos team a scare when Jordan Ayew pulled a goal back 11 minutes before the end of the game. But Harry Kane secured the points with his fourth goal in two games during injury time.
It was a very good game but in football, its never easy, never done. We suffered a little in the last 15 minutes when we made a mistake and conceded the goal.
That was a difficult moment but we recovered and when Harry scored, we were all happy and I think we deserved to win this game. The team is growing, maturing. We are still young and we need to improve. Its important to learn in every game and even better when you take three points, the Argentine manager added.
