At least 20 people were killed and 700,000 were injured in the torrential rains that wrecked havoc in north-east regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Assam over the past two weeks.
The unrelenting rains triggered landslides and flash floods, submerging around 900 villages in Assam and forcing thousands of people to move out to safety.
The swelling of rivers has worsened the flood condition in the state. About 60 relief camps were set up for the flood victims, IBN Live said.
Transportation in the regions took a hit due to the overflowing of rivers including the Brahmaputra. Around 13 districts in Assam were affected.
In Sikkim, the incessant floods washed away around 30 kilometres of a highway, and the region between Mangan and Chungthang including a labour camp at the Teesta Hydel Project site was reportedly affected, said the news channel.
The Army, the National and State Disaster Response Force and the Air Force are expected to resume rescue operations on Sunday.
According to ANI, the flash floods killed sixteen people including 12 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel in the Pegong area of North Sikkim on Friday.
In Arunachal Pradesh, three people were killed as flood waters entered new areas, the news agency said.
