The year 2016 is coming to a close and it is time to look back at some of the best moments of these 12 months, especially when it's captured on camera and publicised through the internet.
Google-owned video sharing website YouTube has released the top 10 viral videos of this year based on the number of shares, comments and likes as well as the amount of time spent watching it.
The most popular videos of this year mostly include the professional ones from television shows, such as The Late Late Show With James Cordon, America's Got Talent, Lip Sync Battle and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.

1. Adele Carpool Karaoke
The musical segment of CBS' late night talk show went viral on YouTube after it featured English songwriter cum singer Adele. The video, which was uploaded in January, garnered around 140 million views. It shows the Brits driving through the streets on a rainy day.
2. Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen (PPAP)
The single created by Japanese comedian Daimaou Kosaka acquired the second position in the list with more than 100 million views. In the video, he plays the role of a fictional singer and songwriter Pikotaro.
3. What's Inside A Rattlesnale Rattle?
The six-minute-long video focuses on a father-son team's quest to find out what is inside a rattlesnake's tail. They visit a zoo to learn more about the spices and then cut open its tail out of curiosity. The video ranks third in the list of YouTube viral videos with more than 61 million views.
4. Nike Football Commercial with Cristiano Ronaldo
The video, titled Nike Football Presents: The Switch ft. Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane, Anthony Martial & More, was uploaded on June 9 and it garnered more than 58 million views. It shows the soccer star switch places with a wannabe player and the description states what if brilliance had to start all over again? One moment can change everything.
5. America's Got Talent 2016 audition
The breakout performance of a 12-year-old ukuleleist named Grace Avery VanderWaal during the popular NBC show went viral on YouTube garnering over 47 million views. During the competition, she performed an original tune and got the golden buzzer.
6. Water Bottle Flip Edition by Dude Perfect
The popular YouTube pranksters uploaded the video in July and garnered 44 million views. It shows the team throwing water bottles of different sizes at various surfaces and how they succeed in landing it perfectly.
7. Lip Sync Battle with Channing Tatum
The musical reality show on Spike captured the attention of over 37 million people when it featured Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum. The video is tiled Channing Tatum & Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" vs. Jenna Dewan-Tatum's "Pony".
8. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
The popular late night talk show on HBO pulled in a large number of audience by featuring president-elect Donald Trump. The video, which was uploaded in January, garnered over 31 million views.
9. The $21,000 First Class Airplane Seat
The video, created by YouTube personality Casey Neistat, features his expensive travel experience on-air. He travelled from Dubai to New York on Emirates Airlines and during his 14-hour-long flight journey, he documented every aspect of the experience.
10. Brothers Convince Little Sister of Zombie Apocalypse
The last video on the list features three siblings trying to scare their little sister by telling her about a zombie outbreak. They played a prank on her right after she had her wisdom teeth surgery. The video was uploaded in April and it was viewed by more than 22 million people.
