July 2015 has been a high-voltage month for smartphone enthusiasts. Last month there was a lot of buzz around Lenovo's latest budget smartphone K3 Note and before it faded away, several other big device makers thronged the market with new options at numerous price points.
And as the month is about to end following two most anticipated releases by OnePlus and Motorola, here is our pick of devices launched this month.
OnePlus 2
Following its debut smartphone OnePlus One's overwhelming success, OnePlus launched its successor this month. The OnePlus 2 retains the display of its predecessor but dressed it with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 Protection. Powered by the latest SnapDragon 810 SoC, the device has been made available in two storage variants. While the 16GB edition combines 3GB RAM, 64GB edition packs a 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. OnePlus 2 runs Android 5.1.1 powered OxygenOS and houses 13MP+5MP camera sensors and a fingerprint sensor for added security.
The 64GB OnePlus 2 will be available for purchase with an invite in India starting on 11 August for Rs 24,999 exclusively on Amazon.in.
Moto G (3rd Gen)
Moto G (3rd Gen) is one of the most intelligent Motorola released budget smartphones with few cut-offs and few great additions. Though Moto G (3rd Gen) packs a SnapDragon 410 SoC, usually seen in inexpensive budget phones, it packs 2GB RAM and 16GB storage with expandability support. If you still think that's also very common, let's tell you this device comes with IPX7 certification, meaning the device can survive under three meters of water for 30 minutes.
The Moto G 2015 edition also features a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and multilayer IR filter for clicking impressive images. For selfies, the device comes equipped with a 5MP front camera. The Moto G 2015 will be available for Rs 11,999 for 8 GB storage with 1GB RAM and Rs 12,999 for 16GB storage with 2GB RAM edition. Both the variants will be available exclusively on Flipkart.
Moto X Play
Along with Moto G (3rd Gen), Motorola also released its latest flagship smartphone under Moto X series. The Moto X packs a 5.5-inch, 1080x1920pixels, 403PPI display. Moto X Play comes powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 SOC, which combines a quad-core 1.7GHz Cortex A-53 and a quad-core 1.0GHz Cortex-A53 processor along with an Adreno 405 GPU. X Play also equips 2GB RAM and is available in 16GB and 32GB storage editions. Both the variants come with expandability support up to 128GB through micro SD card.
The model also houses a 21MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Motorola is yet to announce the price of Moto X Play for India, but translating the UK pricing £299 comes around Rs 30,000.
Micromax Canvas Xpress 2
Micromax launched another budget device Canvas Xpress 2 in the market. Available at Flipkart for Rs 5,999, the Canvas Spark features a mediaTek octa-core SoC, 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. Powered by a 2,500 mAh battery, the Canvas Xpress 2 packs a 13MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper.
Yu Yureka Plus
The Yu Yureka Plus packs an Octa-Core Qualcomm SnapDragon 615 processor backed with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, expandable up to 32GB. The Yu Yureka Plus also features 13MP+5MP camera combination and a 2,500 mAh battery.
Yu Yureka Plus will be available through flash sale on every Friday via Amazon.in for Rs 9,999.
InFocus M810
InFocus M810 is now exclusively available on Amazon.in (www.amazon.in/infocus) at Rs 14,999. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, backed with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, InFocus M810 comes equipped with a 13 MP main camera with a true tone LED flash and a 5 MP front camera and is available in gold colour too.
Xolo Black
The Xolo Black is a worthy phone launched by a home-grown company. The first online-only phone from Xolo packs a S615 octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage expandable up to 32GB. Boasting a 5.5-inch, 1920x1080 pixels display, the XOLO Black runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and packs a 13MP+2MP camera combo. The XOLO Black will be available exclusively on Flipkart for Rs 12,999.
Lava Pixel V1 Android One 2.0
The new Lava Pixel V1, dubbed as the affordable Nexus phone, is actually the successor of Android One devices. Available for Rs 11,500 through Flipkart, the Lava Pixel V1 boasts a 5.5-inch, 720x1280 pixels, 267PPI display with 1.3GHz MediaTek Processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 2,650 mAh battery.
The device also houses a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera and runs on Android 5.1.1 operating system.
Huawei Y336, Y451, Y625 and G260S
After achieving a decent response from online consumers through Flipkart, Huawei is eyeing the offline smartphone market in India by launching four new smartphones. Dubbed Y336, Y541, Y625 and G620S, the smartphones will be available for purchase in brick-and-mortar stores across the country.
Newly launched Huawei Y336, Y541, Y625 and G620S will be available under its G & Y series between the price range of Rs 5,499-Rs 9,499.
