French auto maker Renault seemed to have hit the jackpot as its new offering Kwid has entered the list of best selling cars in India for the first time in December with the sales of 6,888 units.
The Kwid, which embarked on its Indian journey in September 2015, has been making waves across the country since its entry and has managed to garner over 75,000 bookings in India. Now, according to the list of top 10 best-selling cars in India in December, published by ET Auto, Renault Kwid has grabbed the ninth spot.
Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, continues to dominate as it claims six spots in the list. While the company's Alto reigns the market with 22,589 units in December with a fall of 1.3% in sales compared to the same period last year, Maruti Dzire, WagonR and Swift round up the top four list.
Hyundai's Grandi10 is fifth in the table with 12,749 units of sales in December followed by Maruti Baleno premium hatchback. For Hyundai, Elite i20 and Eon also played a part in the success. While Elite i20 notched up to the seventh spot with 8,629 units in December 2015, the Eon just managed to cling to the tenth position with 6,563 units. Maruti Celerio, which is eighth in the list is the top gainer of December with 65.3% year-on-year growth. The company sold 8,019 units of Celerio in December 2015 compared to 4,851 units in December 2014.
