Recently, the studio revealed that British actor Tom Hardy will play the character of Eddie Brock aka Venom in the spinoff. Sony Pictures took to Twitter to share a picture of the Taboo actor sporting a Venom t-shirt and wrote, "Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony's Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 – production starts this fall."
As per Screen Geek, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige clarified the confusion regarding the Venom movie in a live Facebook interview with the French website, AlloCiné. Feige said Spider-Man aka Tom Holland will not appear in Tom Hardy's Venom movie. Thus, fans will not be able to see Holland and Hardy going hand in hand in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Feige further added, "For now, there is NO plan for Venom in the MCU. It's a Sony Project."
Besides Spider-Man: Homecoming and Venom spinoff, Sony is also developing another solo movie based on Spider-Man characters Silver Sable and Black Cat titled Silver and Black.
While fans are pretty confident about Tom Hardy nailing the role of Venom, there is no chance of the movie being R-Rated "Currently we don't work on R-Rated movies, it's not out of the question, but currently, no," Feige said.
Venom is expected to hit theatres on October 5, 2018.
