Tollywood in 2017: 15 highest grossing Telugu movies of the year - Baahubali 2, Khaidi No 150, JLK, DJ and others

Tollywood has delivered several hit movies in 2017 and Baahubali 2, Khaidi No 150, Jai Lava Kusa (JLK) and DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham are leading the list of 15 highest grossing Telugu movies of the year.

With only two weeks away for the year to conclude, the Telugu film industry has released nearly 200 movies including dubbed films from various languages. Another four big-ticket flicks are slated to hit the screens in the next two weeks. The industry has shelled out over Rs 2,000 crore on production and promotion of all the movies that hit the cinema halls.

It has been a landmark year for the Telugu film industry. When compared to previous years, the industry has produced more number of films this year. There is a decrease in the number of flop movies and increase in the number of successful ventures.

Some Telugu movies have shattered several previous records this year and went on to set new benchmarks. Four films have entered Rs 100-crore club.

In the previous years, the 'Rs 50 crore club' movies were limited to teh big star films. But some young actors like Nani, Sharwanand, Varun Tej, Vijay Deverakonda's films have debuted into this club. Also, some films surpassed Rs 50 crore mark too.

This year is very special for Tollywood for another big reason and that is the humongous collection of Baahubali 2, which collected what all other Telugu films raked in together this year. The SS Rajamouli directed fantasy drama has created history by minting over Rs 1,700 crore gross. It has become second all time highest grossing Indian cinema after Dangal.
