Like every year, Tollywood has witnessed some controversies in 2015 too. The controversies surrounding "Baahubali", Trisha, Samantha, Srinu Vaitla, Radhika Apte have created a lot of buzz in the media.
Samamtha and Siddharth's breakup: Actress Samamtha and actor Siddharth, who dated each other for few months, broke up in January 2015. The speculations about the split between the two started doing rounds in the media following Twitter posts of the couple. This controversy was debated in the media for some days.
In January, Samantha had tweeted, "That moment when you realise that what you thought was the worst thing that happened to you is actually the best thing that happened to you," Minutes later, Siddharth posted a comment on his Twitter handle and deleted it after some time. His tweet read, "That moment when I realise you're just somebody I used to know."
Trisha's engagement: Trisha's Krishnan's love affair and engagement with entrepreneur Varun Manian created ripples in the media earlier this year. But the speculations about their break-up started doing the rounds few weeks after their engagement. Finally, the actress announced calling off her engagement, but declined to divulge the reason behind her decision.
Avanthika's rape in Baahubali: SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali: The Beginning" created headline all good reasons. but one fact damaged its fame to certain extent. The scene featuring Prabhas wooing warrior Avanthika disappointed some feminists, who described it as nothing less than a rape. The feminist berated the inherent mysogyny of the scene and accused it of glorifying rape. Their comments sparked a controversy, which was a big topic of debate on social media almost for a week.
Radhika Apte's comment on chauvinism: In an interview to film critic Rajeev Masand, Radhika Apte who has starred with Balakrishna in "Legend" and "Lion", criticised the Telugu Film Industry for being 'patriarchal' and 'male chauvinist'. She said that she had to undergo lot of struggle on the sets of Telugu. She condemned the industry for not treating actresses with due respect. Her comment created buzz in the national media with some insiders from T-Town crying hoarse.
Charmme's interference in Nithin-Puri's project: Puri Jagannath had teamed up with Nithin again after "Hear Attack". Besides acting, Nithin was also co-producing the film with his father Sudhakar Reddy. It was rumoured that the director wanted Charmme Kaur to co-produce the film with Sudhakar Reddy, but the father and son walked out of the project stating they did not like her interference in the project. Srinu Vaitla and Kona Venkat fight: Director Srinu Vaitla and writer Kona Venkat have given some big hits to Tollywood, but the failure of "Bruce Lee: The Fighter" created a rift between the duo. Following negative reviews for the movie, the scriptwriter announced that he would file a defamation case against the director for not using "any of the 72 scenes" he had written for the film. Roopa's harassment case against Srinu Vaitla: Roopa Vaitla had filed a harassment complaint against Srinu Vytla at Banjara Hills Police Station in Hyderabad on 15 October. In her complaint, she had claimed that she was manhandled by her partner after an altercation following which she left their house and gone on to stay with her parents at Yousufguda. Ali's lewd joke on Anushka Shetty's thighs: During the audio launch of "Size Zero", Ali had made sexist comment about Anushka Shetty's thighs. The actress smiled at his words taking them to be praise, but his comments did not go well with some women's rights organizations, which condemned the comedian for his sexist remarks. Finally, the actor had to issue a public apology.
Talking to anchor Suma, actor Ali had said, "Anushka looks like a hot Jalebi who everybody likes to eat." He had added, "Sometime back you had asked the other girl (Sonal Chauhan) to slap her thighs. However, she has no thighs. Anushka has really remarkable thighs. Ever since I saw her in Billa (where Anushka appeared in a bikini), I became her fan." Read more
