Fans eagerly waiting for Season 3 of anime series "Tokyo Ghoul" will be delighted to know that the upcoming season will introduce in the series a new protagonist, Haise Sasaki.
Though the third season might be different from the manga counterpart, the latest reports suggest that it will still be based on the story arcs from the manga.
According to Vine Report, the new lead character might be an avatar of Kaneki Ken as Sasaki's hair design is very similar to that of Ken, with a stroke of black and white colour.
As reported by the website, several fan speculations state that after Ken loses his memory and surrenders to the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG), he adopted a new identity of Sasaki and chose to be a Ghoul investigator. However, none of the official sources have confirmed this theory.
Breathe Cast has reported that the new protagonist can also be Touka Kirishima who went to To-Oh University instead of continuing with the school. The university is a familiar name among the fans of another popular anime series, "Death Note," as the lead character of the series, Light Yagami, also went to the same university.
Several rumours state that Madhouse might be taking over the production of "Tokyo Ghoul" from Season 3 and hence, both "Tokyo Ghoul" and "Death Note" might be set in the same universe.
Though the series will definitely feature a new lead character, fans are expecting to see the older protagonists returning with Season 3 too. The premiere date of next season has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to be aired in the second half of this year or early 2017.
