Mysuru and Kodagu MP Prathap Simha complained to the police on Wednesday, saying he received a death threat through a Facebook post, said reports.
The Facebook post -- "Mysuru Huli Shahide Millath Mahan Tippu Sultan (Tipu Sultan)" -- had a photo collage of the BJP legislator along with VHP leader Kuttapaa, who was killed during the clashes over Tipu Jayanti on Tuesday.
The Facebook post warned Simha that he will meet a similar fate as that of Kuttappa if he continues to make anti-Muslim comments.
Police Commissioner B Dayananda has beefed up security at the residence of the BJP MP after he made an oral complaint regarding the death threat.
The development comes a day after theatre artiste Girish Karnad received a death threat over his controversial remarks in support of Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
He had remarked that the Kempegowda International Airport should be renamed after erstwhile Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan, whom the saffron outfits consider as an anti-Hindu tyrant.
