Nagarjuna, Karthi and Tamanna Bhatia-starrer "Thozha," the Tamil version of Telugu flick "Oopiri," has garnered unanimous positive reviews from the audience and critics. It has also got a decent opening at the box office on the first day.
The advance booking for "Thozha" was not as it had been expectated by the makers and the movie registered poor collection for the morning shows in most of the centres in Tamil Nadu. But the occupancy substantially increased during the later shows due to the good word-of-mouth.
Talking about its performance, journalist Kaushik LM tweeted, "Trade sources point that #thozha matinee shows are showing grt jumps compared to noon and mrng. Ticket pressure will keep increasing. [sic]"
It is the same for the Telugu version as well. Leading trade tracker Andhra Box Office posted, "#Oopiri Had a Decent to Good Opening Day!. With Most Positive Reports of the year so far, it is expected grow further in the weekend. [sic]"
The positive reviews are expected to do wonders for "Thozha" as well as "Oopiri." The traders are predicting a huge jump in the collection during weekend as the movie is expected to pull family audience to theatres in big numbers.
However, the exact collection of both the versions are yet to be revealed by the makers. It is speculated that the combined collection of the two versions would come somewhere around Rs 11 crore.
Vamsi Paidipally's "Thozha" has Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Ali and others in the supporting cast. The movie tells the story of a quadriplegic millionaire and an emotionally-challenged person. While Nagarjuna plays the role of a physically-challenged man, Karthi plays his caretaker in the film, which is the South Indian remake of French movie "The Intouchables."
The good narration backed by wonderful performance of Nagarjuna and Karthi have won the hearts of the audience.
