"Thoongavanam" (Thoongaavanam) may have been overshadowed by Ajith's "Vedalam" but the Kamal Haasan starrer has definitely not been ignored by the audience.
The verdict is out there to see as "Thoongavanam" has done good business on the second day at the box office. The Kamal Haasan starrer film is holding well, says trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai.
"#Deepavali2015, Day 2 at TN B-O , both #Thoongavanam & #Vedalam are holding well. So far good Deepavali inspite of heavy rains," he tweeted. The impressive part of the story is that heavy rains have not made much impact on the audience as they continue to come to theatres in large numbers to watch the movie.
On the opening day, "Thoongavanam" earned close to Rs 4 crore and on the second day, the movie made above Rs 4 crore. Thanks to good word-of-mouth, the Kamal Haasan movie has bettered the performance.
The positive reviews from the audience and critics are expected to boost the collection of "Thoongavanam" in the coming days. The holiday weekend factor will play a crucial role in its success at the box office.
"Thoongavanam" has been made under Kamal Haasan's home banner Raj Kamal International. The Universal Star has himself written the screenplay, while the film has been directed by his former associate Rajesh M Selva.
The film is a remake of French flick "Nuit Blanche". Trisha Krishnan and Prakash Raj have played key roles in the film.
