Dhanush and Keerthy Suresh-starrer Thodari has garnered mixed reviews from the audience and critics. But the Kollywood film has reportedly got a good opening at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Thodari has hit the screens on Thursday, 22 September. The hype around the film was lesser compared to Dhanush's previous few films. As a result, the response to the advance booking was not up to his usual standards.
Yet, Thodari has managed to do good business on the first day of its release. Early estimates coming from trade experts indicate that the Dhanush-starrer has collected somewhere between Rs 3-4 crore. It has to be noted that it is an estimated number and the makers have not revealed the official figure.
The Tamil flick has also failed to beat Dhanush's previous performances of Thanga Magan and Maari, which had reportedly earned Rs 4.1 crore and 5.6 crore, respectively.
However, it has to be seen how the Prabhu Solomon-starrer will perform in the days to come following the mixed reviews. In the recent history, Chiyaan Vikram and Nayanthara-starrer Iru Mugan had successfully overcome the mixed reviews, thereby doing fantastic business at the domestic as well as the overseas box office.
The film has been simultaneously made in Telugu with the title Rail. But both the versions have not been released in Karnataka following the Cauvery dispute. This has taken a toll on its overall business to some extent.
Thodari is a romantic thriller produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. Keerthy Suresh has romanced Dhanush in the film, which has Ganesh Venkatraman playing a pivotal role. Thambi Ramaiah, Radha Ravi, Hairsh Uthaman, Chinni Jayanth and many others are in the supporting cast.
The film is predominantly set in a train. Dhanush plays the role of a pantry worker in the flick and Keerthy Suresh has done the role of a make-up artist.
